This Hot Honey Baked Feta recipe combines creamy, tangy feta cheese with the sweet heat of hot honey, baked to perfection and garnished with fresh thyme and pink peppercorns. It’s a quick and flavorful appetizer served warm with crackers or pita chips.

Ingredients

Cheese

  • 8 ounces feta cheese

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish
  • Pink peppercorns, optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400° F to get it ready for baking the feta cheese.
  2. Prepare Feta: Pat the feta cheese dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, ensuring it bakes evenly and gets a nice texture.
  3. Drizzle Olive Oil: Place the feta in a baking dish or small cast iron pan and drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the top to add flavor and help with roasting.
  4. Bake Feta: Bake the feta for 8-10 minutes until it softens. Remove from the oven and set your broiler to high for the next step.
  5. Broil with Hot Honey: Drizzle hot honey across the baked feta, then place it on the top rack under the broiler for 5-6 minutes. Broil until the honey caramelizes and the top of the feta begins to brown slightly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the feta from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme and optional pink peppercorns. Serve warm alongside crackers or pita chips and enjoy the perfect blend of spicy, sweet, and tangy flavors.

Notes

  • Patting the feta dry before baking helps to avoid a watery dish and improves texture.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey based on your preferred spice level.
  • If you don’t have pink peppercorns, you can use crushed red pepper flakes or skip entirely.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with fresh crackers, pita chips, or crusty bread.
  • Use a small cast iron pan or an oven-safe dish to ensure even heat distribution and easy broiling.
