These Easy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings are a perfect blend of crispy, juicy wings coated in a flavorful garlic and parmesan sauce. Baked to golden perfection, they offer a delightful kick of red pepper flakes balanced by the richness of grated Parmesan cheese, making them a crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Wings

  • 2 pounds wing portions (wingettes, drumettes, or a combo)

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, to taste
  • ½1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon salt, to taste

Coating

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (or tapioca or arrowroot starch)
  • ⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Italian or Ranch dressing, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce and coat wings: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt until a slightly thick sauce forms. Add the wing portions and toss well to coat each piece entirely with the flavorful mixture.
  2. Add the cornstarch and Parmesan: Sprinkle cornstarch evenly over the coated wings and toss again to ensure every wing is covered. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, continuing to toss so that the cheese coats the wings completely, which will help create a crispy, cheesy crust when baked.
  3. Bake the wings: Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and position a wire rack on top. Arrange the wings in a single layer, skin side down, ensuring the pieces do not touch to maximize crispiness. Place the wings in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time for even crisping. For an extra crispy finish, optionally broil the wings for 2 to 4 minutes under high broil, watching closely to prevent burning.
  4. Serve: Once baked, sprinkle the wings with additional Parmesan cheese and finely chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately with Italian or Ranch dressing on the side for dipping and enjoy your crispy, garlicky Parmesan wings!

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, use a wire rack so heat circulates around the wings during baking.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your heat preference or omit for a mild version.
  • Parmesan cheese is key for flavor and crisp texture; use freshly grated for best results.
  • Wings can be served with additional dipping sauces like blue cheese or garlic aioli.
