Ingredients

Feta Dip

  • 14 to 16 ounces block feta cheese
  • 3 Tbsp avocado oil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or dried parsley
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Topping

  • ½ cup fig preserves
  • ½ cup raw pecans, chopped
  • ½ tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the feta cheese.
  2. Toast Pecans: Place the chopped pecans in a small skillet over medium heat on the stovetop. Stir occasionally for 1 to 3 minutes until they become toasted and crunchy. Remove from heat and transfer pecans to a bowl. Add the fig preserves and mix together well to combine the flavors.
  3. Prepare Feta: Remove feta blocks from packaging and place them in a small oven-safe dish or casserole dish. Drizzle the avocado oil over the feta, then sprinkle with dried oregano (or parsley) and a pinch of black pepper evenly.
  4. Bake Feta: Bake the feta at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown. After baking, reduce oven temperature to 350°F.
  5. Mix Feta and Add Topping: Transfer the feta to your serving dish. Stir the cheese with a spoon until creamy and smooth. Spoon the fig and pecan mixture evenly over the top of the feta.
  6. Final Bake: Return the dish to the oven and bake at 350°F for an additional 12 to 17 minutes, or until the topping is hot and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and place it on a trivet or kitchen towel to protect surfaces. Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves over the hot dip. Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices, pita bread, or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality feta block for best flavor and texture.
  • Avocado oil can be substituted with olive oil if preferred.
  • Adjust the amount of fig preserves based on desired sweetness.
  • Ensure pecans are evenly toasted to enhance their crunch and flavor.
  • Serve the dip warm for the creamiest texture.
