Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Make The TangzhongCombine 3 tablespoons of bread flour and 1/2 cup of water in a small pot. Whisk until smooth. Heat over medium-low, whisking until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool to make the tangzhong mixture.
  2. Step 2: Activate The YeastMix warm low-fat milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes to activate.
  3. Step 3: Prepare The DoughCombine bread flour, yeast mixture, egg, salt, and tangzhong. Rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Knead The DoughKnead for 15-20 minutes, add butter, and knead until smooth.
  5. Step 5: Proof The DoughLet the dough double in size for 1 hour.
  6. Step 6: Shape And Proof The LoavesDivide, roll, and place in a loaf pan to proof for 40 minutes.
