Southern fried salmon patties are crispy, flavorful patties made with flaked salmon, seasoned with southern spices, and fried to golden perfection. They serve as a comforting meal for lunch, dinner, or a hearty snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 can or 1 cup cooked salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, parsley, and lemon juice. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into small, even-sized patties (about 4 to 6).
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove patties and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, or your favorite side.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
  • Add diced bell peppers or jalapeños for a spicy kick.
  • For a healthier version, bake patties at 400°F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 2 days or frozen individually.
  • Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
