Ingredients
4-5 lb beef brisket
1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional for a little heat)
1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
Instructions
Trim off any excess fat from the brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat.
Mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and chili powder in a small bowl. Rub this spice mixture generously over the entire brisket.
Pour beef broth (or water) into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Place the seasoned brisket fat-side up into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until fork-tender.
Remove the brisket from the slow cooker, let it rest for a few minutes, and slice against the grain.
Drizzle BBQ sauce over the slices or serve it on the side for dipping.
Notes
For extra spice, add more chili powder or hot sauce to the seasoning mix.
For a smoky flavor, use smoked paprika instead of regular paprika.
Add onions, garlic, and bell peppers into the slow cooker for extra flavor and texture.
Shred the brisket for BBQ sandwiches with additional BBQ sauce and a side of coleslaw.
