Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken cooked in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce that is sticky and delicious. Perfect for a simple weeknight dinner, it pairs well with rice or steamed vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 34 chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 34 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons water or chicken broth (optional, for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken until golden and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side depending on thickness.
  3. While the chicken cooks, mix honey, minced garlic, and soy sauce in a small bowl to make the sauce.
  4. After the chicken is done, pour the sauce into the pan and let it simmer, coating the chicken, until it thickens slightly and becomes sticky. For a thicker sauce, stir in a cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) and cook for another minute.
  5. Serve hot with rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Use chicken breasts for a leaner option or thighs for juicier meat.
  • To make gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or a gluten-free alternative.
  • Add a splash of rice vinegar or red pepper flakes for tang or heat.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently on the stovetop to keep chicken tender and sauce glossy.
