A simple and comforting one-pan meal combining savory browned ground beef with tender, slightly sweet chopped cabbage. Perfect for a quick, hearty, and nutritious dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups chopped cabbage
  • 1 small onion, chopped (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 12 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika or preferred spices
  • 12 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic (if using), sauté until soft and fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Once beef is cooked through, add chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir to combine.
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage softens and reduces in volume, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Add soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce if desired for extra flavor and stir well.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

Notes

  • Use frozen cabbage by thawing and draining excess water to avoid sogginess.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best texture, adding a splash of water or broth if needed.
  • Vegetarian option: substitute ground beef with plant-based crumbles or sautéed mushrooms.
  • Variations include adding shredded carrots, bell peppers, or crushed red pepper flakes for extra flavor and color.
