Ground Beef Alfredo is a hearty and creamy pasta dish featuring seasoned ground beef, fire-roasted diced tomatoes, and a rich Alfredo sauce made with heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. This one-pan recipe combines sautéed ground beef and vegetables with linguine pasta, simmered together in a flavorful cream and broth sauce for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Ground Beef Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning (optional for spicy kick)
  • ½ cup diced onions
  • ½ cup diced green peppers
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 14.5 oz canned fire roasted diced tomatoes, drained

Pasta and Alfredo Sauce

  • 1-2 cups broth (beef, vegetable, or chicken) or water (broth preferred for flavor)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon Cajun seasoning (optional for spicy kick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8-10 oz pasta (linguine recommended; 8 oz for creamier texture)
  • 1 ½ cups grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef and Vegetables: Place a large skillet or Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and optional Cajun seasoning. Add diced onions, green peppers, and minced garlic. Cook until beef is fully browned and vegetables are fragrant.
  2. Add Tomatoes: Stir in the drained fire-roasted diced tomatoes and cook briefly to combine flavors.
  3. Remove Beef Mixture: Remove the beef and vegetable mixture from the pan and set aside. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: Return the pan to medium-high heat, add 1 cup broth and heavy cream. Season with Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Add the Pasta: When the sauce begins to boil, add the pasta without breaking it. The pasta will wilt to fit in the pan.
  6. Simmer the Pasta: Lower heat to medium, cover the pan, and simmer for 10-15 minutes until pasta is al dente. Add additional broth if pasta is not fully submerged.
  7. Add Cheese and Combine: Sprinkle in grated Parmesan cheese and gently fold to mix into the sauce.
  8. Combine with Beef Mixture: Add the cooked ground beef and vegetable mixture back into the pot with the pasta and sauce. Fold everything together.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let the dish cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Season the beef with any spices of your choice for customized flavor.
  • Use any pasta variety like linguine, fettuccine, spaghetti, or penne according to preference.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, sausage, bacon, seafood, or omit meat for a vegetarian option.
  • Any canned diced tomatoes can be used based on availability and taste preference.
  • Using half and half or milk instead of heavy cream will yield a thinner sauce.
  • If preferred, boil pasta separately following package instructions.
  • The dish tends to absorb sauce as it sits; cook extra sauce if a saucier dish is desired.
  • Freshly grated cheese melts better than pre-shredded for a smoother sauce texture.
