Dr Pepper Ice Cream is a nostalgic and refreshing homemade ice cream that blends the spicy, cherry-like flavors of Dr Pepper soda with creamy richness, creating a fun and unique dessert perfect for warm days or soda lovers.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Dr Pepper soda
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Slowly stir in the Dr Pepper soda, being careful to mix gently to retain some of the soda’s fizz.
  3. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  4. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 3-4 hours or until firm.
  5. When ready to serve, let the ice cream sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly for easier scooping.

Notes

  • For a boozy twist, add a splash of bourbon or spiced rum before churning.
  • Add chopped cherries or maraschino cherries to enhance the cherry notes.
  • Mix in chocolate chips or fudge swirls for extra richness.
  • Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two weeks.
  • If the ice cream gets too hard, let it soften at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.
  • To make vegan/dairy-free, substitute heavy cream and milk with coconut cream and almond or oat milk.
