These Crunchy BBQ Chicken Sliders are the perfect combination of tender shredded chicken coated in BBQ sauce, creamy Alabama white BBQ sauce, crunchy coleslaw mix, and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds, all sandwiched between sweet King’s Hawaiian rolls. Easy to make and bursting with flavor, these sliders are a hit at any gathering or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Crunchy BBQ Chicken Sliders:

  • 1 pack King’s Hawaiian rolls (12 pack) or sliders (9 pack)
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced thinly
  • barbecue chips (Grippo’s if available)

Shredded BBQ Chicken:

  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 2 lbs. chicken breast tenders or thighs
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated onion plus juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Alabama White BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp creamy horseradish
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder & onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Make The Chicken: Combine chicken ingredients in a slow cooker or Instant Pot. Cook until chicken is easily shredded. Broil shredded chicken with BBQ sauce until crispy.
  2. Prepare Sliders: Slice sliders, toast undersides, spread with butter and sesame seeds, then toast top side.
  3. Assemble Sliders: Coat coleslaw with white sauce, layer on bottom buns, top with chicken, onions, chips, and remaining sauce. Slice and serve.
