Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Optional Toppings:

  • whipped cream
  • powdered sugar
  • fresh berries
  • maple syrup
  • chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients until smooth. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  3. Bake the Muffins: Fill each muffin cup two-thirds full with batter. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  4. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a dish. Dip warm muffins into the mixture, then return to the oven for 2-3 minutes to crisp the tops.
