Crispy, juicy, and flavorful bite-sized chicken nuggets marinated in dill pickle juice, breaded, and fried to golden perfection, replicating the beloved Chick-fil-A taste at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup dill pickle juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and pour the dill pickle juice over them. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Remove chicken from the marinade and pat dry lightly with paper towels.
  5. Dip each piece of chicken into the milk and egg mixture, then dredge thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture. For extra crispiness, double-dip by repeating the milk and flour steps.
  6. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the nuggets in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove nuggets with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Marinating in dill pickle juice tenderizes the chicken and adds a subtle tangy flavor.
  • Double-dipping creates an extra crispy coating but is optional.
  • For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Use buttermilk instead of milk for a richer flavor.
  • Substitute gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • Leftovers keep up to 3 days refrigerated in an airtight container.
  • Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to keep crispiness.
